Cumulative updates are hotfixes that were developed for very specific problems and are not fully tested.
Routinely installing cumulative updates could have collateral impacts. That is stated in the knowledge base article accompanying each update. I went to make sure that the updates in office were current and saw "Office 32bit". So I killed that installation, and installing a fresh 64 bit installation of Office. So far it looks like that is what it is, weird, very weird as the laptop was installed off the same disk, and it is the 64 bit on it.

But now that I see that the install will initiate on the other machine, there is something with my desktop that is killing the process. I normally use the PC under a non-admin user. I tried logging in as the admin and installing it from there but I get the same result also. I have tried installing from a USB and tried a different burner software also. I don't believe There are a bunch of public updates that may help solve the issue. Did you try the downloads from the link I gave you?
